As the February 2026 Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) approach, the Sapeyi of Garki, Alhaji Usman Ngakupyi, has called on political leaders across the country to focus on empowering the nationβs youth to help reduce electoral violence.
"The key to lasting peace is empowering the youth in their choice of occupation. Rather than using them for selfish political gain, our leaders must invest in the future of our young people," the traditional ruler emphasised at a forum organised by Sustainable Solutions for Youths and the Vulnerable Initiatives.

A 3-day free maternal and reproductive health clinic provided screenings, nutrition counselling, and antenatal referrals to 400 women in Abuja's underserved satellite towns.
The first cohort of SSYVI's Civic Voices program graduated 200 youth champions trained in constitutional rights, budget monitoring, and civic participation across three states.
SSYVI received the Excellence in Youth Development Award at the annual Nigeria Civil Society Forum, recognising our impact and commitment over eight years of service.
